Clean Your Home in 30 Minutes or Less

Do you have a huge mess to clean up - and only half an hour before your guests arrive?

We’ve all been there, but there are several quick timesavers you can use to tidy your home before your visitors get there.

Believe it or not, the first thing your visitors will take notice of is you, not the rest of your house. Ensure your physical appearance is up to par as well as your homes!

If you do have quite a bit of a mess on your hands however, you can effectively clean your home in 30 minutes or less - and your guests will be none the wiser.

First and foremost, shut doors to any rooms that your guests won’t be entering. Don’t even worry about tidying these rooms up - just shut the door and be done with it!

This will block the view to any rooms you’d rather not have your guests see.

Pick up a few plastic shopping bags and systematically place any unnecessary items and clutter in the bags from the room you’ll be visiting in. Too much clutter will make your home look disorganized and messy.

Secondly, focus on coffee tables and other surfaces where dirt and fingerprints reside. Wipe down tables and quickly wipe down the windows and other reflective surfaces.

If you have time, take a hand vacuum and vacuum the sofas and fluff the pillows to make the seating look presentable for your guests.

Your bathroom should also not be overlooked. Take careful consideration with the bathroom mirror, counters and sink. Clean up any stray hair, toothpaste or other unsightly stains your guests are likely to notice.

Dirty towels and other unnecessary clutter should be picked up and stowed away somewhere out of sight. Place clean towels, soap and toilet paper for your guests in the bathroom.

Depending how quickly you were able to clean the major areas of the spot your guests will be visiting, you may have time left over to vacuum the rug. Sprinkle down a scented carpet freshener and vacuum up dirt, debris and dust.

Finally, put away clean dishes in the kitchen and quickly wipe down the counters. If there are any items left strewn about the kitchen or cluttering up the counters, stow them away out of sight - you can worry about their proper locations later!

Ultimately, you want to focus on the main areas of the home your guests are likely to notice first. The living area, kitchen and bathroom are all important areas to briefly focus on. Light a scented candle or spray pine oil in the air as a finishing touch for a fresh scent your guests will appreciate.

If company is coming over and you have little time to prepare, the previous tips will help you clean your home in 30 minutes or less.

Spend your time focusing on the main areas of the home and where your guests will be visiting, and they’ll never know you rushed to tidy everything up!
